Recreational Division
Dancers training 5 or less hours per week and/or with limited
competition experience may enter the recreational division. To make the competition
experience more enjoyable for these dancers, the scoring will be more lenient.

Elite Division
Dancers training 6 or more hours per week must enter in the elite division. The
scoring is designed for a dancer who has had prior performance and/or competition experience.
*(Age divisions are determined by the dancers age as of January 1st, 2024.)
Ballet
Includes classical or contemporary ballet movement and technique. Ballet shoes only.
Demi Character Ballet
Includes classical ballet movement and technique, must portray a recognizable character & or tell a story.
Pointe
Must include classical or contemporary pointe technique and steps. Pointe shoes for solos / Pointe & ballet shoes with a higher pointe shoe ratio for groups.
Jazz
Contains traditional jazz movements and techniques. Maximum of 3 acrobatic tricks
Lyrical
A style of jazz dance that incorporates ballet technique. The movement should interpret the lyrics, mood and content of the music.
Contemporary
A style of jazz dance that incorporates movement derived from modern dance.
Tap
Contains tap movements and techniques.
Acro
A routine that consists of acrobatic/gymnastic skills that are incorporated with dance.
Hip-Hop
Street or contemporary jazz-funk. (multiple tricks are allowed)
Variety
Choreography that is different in nature to the listed disciplines or a combination of disciplines.
Improv
The dancer listens to selected music immediately prior to commencement of category, does not know what s/he will execute but moves spontaneously and freely to chosen music. In opposition to composed dance, where the dancer memorizes choreography.
Group Fusion
Elite dancers to form groups consisting of a duo/trio or small group.This must be a self choreographed routine. NOTE – One or more studios can be represented in each routine. Any style of dance can be performed. Each dancer is only permitted to enter with one group.
